Nashoba FC Merges with Strikers United

Merger strengthens soccer development opportunities

Strikers United (SU), the premiere soccer program of Acton Boxborough Youth Soccer (ABYS), is thrilled to announce a merger with Nashoba FC (NFC), a division of the Nashoba Regional Soccer Association dedicated to the holistic development of competitive soccer players. The combined teams will compete this spring in the Northeast Soccer League (NSL) under the SU banner, while retaining their individual team rosters, coaches, and uniforms.  Winter training for NFC teams is being scheduled at SU’s indoor training facility partner, the Mill Works, in Westford, MA, and will be released soon.

“The synergies created from the merger will strengthen development opportunities for competitive soccer players along the Route 2 corridor of MetroWest and Central MA, and provide a pathway to the highest levels of soccer competition,” stated SU Director of Coaching, Mitch Doherty.

Nashoba FC is dedicated to player development with a particular focus on building technical soccer skills.  Strikers United wholly embraces this philosophy which will provide Nashoba FC players a seamless transition into a larger organization with more resources,” expressed NFC Director of Coaching, Dave Lauffer.

About Strikers United:

Strikers United is a premier soccer development program aimed at providing a professional and structured pathway for committed players who are passionate about working at developing their skills, enhancing their techniques, learning game strategies and improving their fitness levels, by training and playing competitive soccer at the highest level achievable, under the guidance of professional coaches.  SU fields teams from U9 through U18/19.  SU also runs a Junior Academy for U6 through U9 players, as well as clinics and other training programs open to players of all ages and abilities, and frequently featuring coaches from the world famous Manchester United Academy.

Strikers United have a unique association as a partner of the New England Revolution Academy.  This partnership has New England Revolution Academy staff coaches working in the SU program as team coaches, and enables players, parents and the SU coaching staff access to a professional and nationally recognized level of developmental training and education.  SU also has a long-standing relationship with the Boston Breakers women’s professional soccer organization, utilizing Boston Breakers professional players and staff coaches as members of the Strikers United coaching staff, and as evaluators for its tryouts and ID clinics.

The Strikers United Program starts each year in late August with a team building skills focused clinic run over 4 consecutive days by staff coaches from the New England Revolution Academy.  This training is followed up by a late August pre-season tournament in preparation for the fall league season.  SU teams compete in the premier level Northeast Soccer League (NSL), in fall and spring.  An extensive winter training program is conducted at SU’s indoor training facility partner, the Mill Works, in Westford, MA.  The 10 month SU program winds up with tournament play over Memorial Day weekend. 

This February Strikers United is co-hosting with the Mill Works an elite level small sided tournament featuring the U13 academy teams from Manchester United, the New England Revolution Academy, and other top flite teams.

About Nashoba FC

Nashoba FC (NFC) was formed to provide an alternative club experience through an affiliation structure that includes both Premier and Recreational soccer programs under the administrative umbrella of Nashoba Regional Soccer AssociationNFC competes in premier divisions of the Northeast Soccer League (NSL). NFC serves the soccer community by providing an affordable club option with excellent development programs.  NFC does not participate in recreational leagues, and thus, players may join NFC regardless of their residence or participation in their town program.  NFC games are generally scheduled on Sundays, and played throughout the MA, NH and RI, so travel for games is often further than recreational soccer, but the competition is more consistent, and as a select program, ensures a much more evenly matched group of players selected for teams to enhance both training and game experience.

NFC is dedicated to providing youth soccer enthusiasts an exciting and rewarding experience while they learn the beautiful game.
